OOB’s Annual General Meeting is held in July.

Board Committees

Several committees support the work of OOB’s Board of Directors by:

• analyzing issues and ideas and developing proposals for Board consideration
• making recommendations to the Board on policies, priorities, and actions
• taking action and making decisions as authorized by the Board
• addressing specific issues or initiatives as directed by the Board

A resident of Jane/Finch community for 43 years, Rev. Sky was the Co-Chair of Jane/Finch Crisis Support Network for 3 years and is a first responder to crisis.

She is a marriage, family, and grief therapist who holds a Master’s degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Community and Religious studies.

Rev. Sky is an educator, consultant, advocate, a former nurse, teacher and business owner and an avid stakeholder in her community.

She was instrumental in the formation of a crisis network team in the community where she provides compassionate, creative care for those who are traumatized by violence. She works with schools and community organizations from a unique trans-cultural perspective. Her work and services include group facilitation, grief & trauma-focused training, workshops, restorative justice mediation, therapeutic intervention, mentorship, lecturing at universities, and emotional intelligence training to youth, schools and the wider community.

She was recognized by CBC TV as a 2010 national “Champion of Change” in Jane and Finch community, by the federal government with the Queen Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012, and as a Role Model and Community Ambassador by Black Canadians, 2014.

Our youngest member of the board is a former student of York University – Schulich School of Business, where she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Accounting.

As a trained Facilitator, Garcia has successfully completed the Introductory level of Trauma-Focused training provided by OOB and she shares the knowledge gained with others by participating in monthly programs given by OOB.

Garcia currently works as a staff accountant at Ernst & Young LLP where she is committed to developing an in-depth knowledge of audit and financial reporting. Her portfolio describes her as a dependable, hard-working, and enthusiastic individual who is currently en route on the journey of becoming a CPA and a better human being.

Family and community rank high on her priority list as Garcia strives to be an example at home and a role model in the community where she loves to volunteer.

Meagan Trush is the Associate Director, Partnership Development and Stewardship at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Diversity Institute where she works to bring people together and advance understanding of the issues facing diverse populations. Meagan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lakehead University and is a Masters of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship candidate at Queens University’s Smith School of Business (class of 2023).

She is a strong proponent of leveraging research to create evidence-based public policy. Prior to joining the Diversity Institute, she accumulated more than five years’ political experience, serving in the offices of the Mayor of Toronto, several provincial Cabinet Ministers, and dozens of election campaigns. Originally from the Thunder Bay area, she spent six years consulting on a range of projects related to Indigenous mental health, working with at-risk youth in communities in the far north. An active volunteer, her community service endeavours have taken her to South Africa as part of a capacity-building initiative for youth, and to the United Nations advocating for international cooperation to prevent the flow of illicit small arms and light weapons.

Jacky Au Duong joined Out of Bounds in June 2018 as a Board member. With an undergraduate and master’s degree in communication, Jacky brings a breadth of knowledge, experience, and expertise in marketing, design, and communication. 

As a project coordinator at Ryerson University, he works closely with researchers to develop, implement, and manage community engagement strategies. Through his work, Jacky provides opportunities for students looking to develop their skills and portfolio in marketing and communication. He is passionate about empowering youth through professional development, continuous learning, and community involvement. 

Jacky grew up in the Jane and Finch community and started volunteering at Oakdale Park Community Centre in Grade 7. Since then, he has held numerous volunteer leadership positions, including serving as the Vice President of the Arts Student Union at the University of Waterloo and the inaugural President of the Professional Communication Alumni Association at Ryerson University.

He looks forward to giving back to his community through Out of Bounds and is eager to volunteer his expertise and knowledge.

Bryan Kelly is an industry veteran with over 26 years of experience, with a proven track record leading all facets of enterprise operations in multimillion-dollar corporations.

As a Senior Vice-President, Bryan’s ability to custom design, direct and execute full-service solutions to protect multisite organizations will continue to be unprecedented as he continues to build and support a national team.

Bryan works closely with valued clientele to implement and supplement the restrictions of manpower services with the newest state of the art and cutting edge technologies, while simultaneously providing superbly trained, supported and emotionally intelligent manpower. He is committed to the growth and development of his employees as well as streamlining security processes to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of our client security budgets. Bryan’s main mission continues to focus on personnel’s individual development, financial success, and pledging the commitment to our front-line employees’ personal growth as our front-line employees pledge to us and our clients in their pursuit of service excellence.

As a people person, Bryan brings a genuine love and concern for the community to the Out Of Bounds team. His caring and compassionate approach to others will be a great asset to OOB’s mission and vision.

Cheryl Hall is a gun violence survivor-mother and a Personal Lines Insurance Underwriter. She comes to Out Of Bounds with a desire to extend her healing growth to mothers and families who experience the trauma that she has survived and is still processing.
A graduate of George Brown College, Cheryl is a long-standing member of Toronto Insurance Women’s’ Association since 1989. She’s very familiar with the business world and brings a wealth of knowledge from serving on Macaulay Child Development Board of Directors and as a Member of Humberwood Downs Junior and Middle Academy School Council.

Chery’s heart for community and her deep desire to find creative ways to curb gun violence, makes her an ideal candidate to work with others who are ill-fated to encounter gun violence trauma. Cheryl’s strong family ties and her passion for community are two strong fortes that drives her to personal excellence and her ability to support others.

Dionne feels blessed to live a life of helping others while building a successful career in the Child Welfare Sector for 20 years. As an alumni of Ryerson PU, she graduated with a Business Commerce Degree, with a Major in Marketing and Minor in Human Resources. She has owned and operated several business – including an Office Cleaning and Dry Cleaning company.

Over time Dionne has developed a community spirit, where she opens her home to those needing shelter. She considers this her life’s philosophy, and confirms that her “spirit of helping” is part of her DNA, which her family has since grown accustomed to.

Dionne is the proud parent of two wonderful adults, with a loving and supportive partner. Two small, friends, their adorable dogs, Riley and Cleo, are also part of the family. She brings her experiences of helping others to Out Of Bounds, and feels grateful for the opportunity to assist those who have been negatively impacted by gun violence, to find their voice, their strength, and their way towards healing and personal empowerment.
